At the minimum, you'll need space for your usual sizes of washing detergent, fabric softener, stain remover and any other products you typically use. Your shelves also need to be deep enough to allow you to remove and replace things without having to be super-careful.
Put in a Big Table
You need a big table to be able to quickly fold your clothes right there in the laundry room. Adding one of the right height, length and strength will save you from having to suffer with makeshift solutions such as folding clothes on your bed.
Have a Cabinet or Rack Installed
If you haven't eliminated the job of ironing, you'll need somewhere to put your iron and its board when they're not in use.
